  • A Splurge for a Blog?

    After months of not doing anything but growing ideas in our heads, we're finally accomplishing some tasks...

    • We have a tentative date (we need to finalize with the priest this Saturday)
    • We have a church
    • We have a reception location
    • We have a DJ (dj eLEMent)
    • And our major splurge ...photographers.....

    For months, I've been lurking on the forums, trying to get ideas and recommendations for vendors....  So, I knew for a while the style I want for our pictures...  I really liked this couple's style.  I made an appointment with them, and booked them on the spot!  They were our first and only interview with a photographer....  I felt kinda bad on our way home after meeting with them....  Did we make a mistake?  Did we not think this through?  But I really like their style.  In fairness, I did get quotes from other photographers, and their unlimited time package is actually on the lower end......  I hope it all works out...  They were well over our budget and I hope they are worth it....  I hope they are worth not getting a wedding gown....(just kidding.....maybe...so if i end up with jeans and a shirt down the aisle, you'll know why)

    But know what?  We made it at our photographer's blog... Check out this blog (june 8, 2006) on their site (we're couple #2)....

    It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

    For the past two holiday seasons, I keep hearing this song and been wondering about the lyrics...  On the third verse, it seems like they're saying my name and my sister's name...  My first instinct was to claim I must be hearing it all weird again.  (Just like TLC's WaterfallsDon't go chasing waterfalls...in my head:  Don't go Jason waterfalls...) So, I tend not to trust what I thought I heard.  But a couple of days ago I thought I'd look up the lyrics online just for the heck of it...  What do you know - they are saying our names...  Pretty cool!

    It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

    It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

    Ev'rywhere you go;

    Take a look in the five-and-ten, glistening once again

    With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.

    It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

    Toys in ev'ry store;

    But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be

    On your own front door.

    A pair of hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots

     Is the wish of Barney and Ben;

     Dolls that will talk and will go for a walk

    Is the hope of Janice and Jen;

    And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again.

    It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

    Ev'rywhere you go;

    There's a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well,

    The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow.

    It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas;

    Soon the bells will start,

    And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing

    Right within your heart.

    Also,  has anyone else heard Wayne Brady's song "Beautiful" - I really like it!

    Happy Holidays!!

  • Access Hollywood

    I tried to start my xmas shopping last Saturday.  Jason and I went to Nordstrom at south coast plaza.  As we got up to the bp section, there were some guards by the escalator telling people to go to the sides.  We asked one of the guys what was happening (we thought it was a fashion show since we saw a couple of girls just behind them just standing there..).  He said that Ryan Seacrest was launching his new line of clothes.  Jason then immediately asked: "why is he here at the women's section?".  The guard replied with a big smile: "His line is for women."  We both just said "oohh".  Here is my attempt of a photo of him signing autographs.

    That same day, we went to a concert at Hollywood Palladium.  It was the Society of Seven and Lani Misalucha.  I guess they are well known in Las Vegas.  Supposedly among the groups that perform on the strip, they are considered one of the best (they earned a B+ grade for their show, same as Celine Dion's score).  The show was good.  Hollywood Palladium was just weird...  As it turns out, one of the guys from Society of Seven is the dad of the actor from Third Watch (the one that plays Carlos for those of you that watch the show.)  He was cuter in person than on tv.  Who knew he had Filipino blood in him?!?  He was really nice too.  When I went up to him to take a picture - he introduced himself first:  "Hi, I'm Anthony" -- to which I replied "Hi Anthony, I'm Janice."  Here's my picture with Anthony Ruivivar and Michael Beach (another actor from the show that came with him to the concert).  Pardon the picture - I didn't have my camera with me so I had to settle with my phone camera.

    Lesson learned:  Alway keep your camera handy.
